Ovarian cancer is a daunting enemy affecting one in every 55 women. Unfortunately, 16,000 women will die of ovarian cancer this year because most cases are not diagnosed until the cancer is in the advanced stages.
A few important facts about ovarian cancer:
- Ovarian cancer is the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers
- Women diagnosed with breast cancer have a 25% greater risk of developing ovarian cancer
- Symptoms are vague and often misdiagnosed
- There is no proven test for early detection
- Without early detection chances of survival are less than 30%
- All women are at risk
